It should 100% be illegal for companies to make you give them your payment information when you sign up for a free trial version of their product. It is not necessary and there is no good fucking reason for them to do it. It’s blatantly just so they can steal forgetful customers’ money.

oh hey, thanks for reminding me to cancel a free trial i had going on.

Reblog to save an unnecessary charge cause it also reminded me to cancel a trial lol

There’s a protest going on against AI art over on artstation, so I feel like now is the time for me to make a statement on this issue!

I wholeheartedly support the ongoing protest against AI art. Why? Because my artwork is included in the datasets used to train these image generators without my consent. I get zero compensation for the use of my art, even though these image generators cost money to use, and are a commercial product.

Musicians are not being treated the same way. Stability has a music generator that only uses royalty free music in their dataset. Their words: “Because diffusion models are prone to memorization and overfitting, releasing a model trained on copyrighted data could potentially result in legal issues.” Why is the work of visual artists being treated differently?

Many have compared image generators to human artists seeking out inspiration. Those two are not the same. My art is literally being fed into these generators through the datasets, and spat back out of a program that has no inherent sense of what is respectful to artists. As long as my art is literally integrated into the system used to create the images, it is commercial use of my art without my consent.

Until there is an ethically sourced database that compensates artists for the use of their images, I am against AI art. I also think platforms should do everything they can to prevent scraping of their content for these databases.

Artists, speak out against this predatory practice! Our art should not be exploited without our consent, and we deserve to be compensated when our art is exploited for commercial use.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Personal Trainer: so what motivated you to start working out?

Me, internally: I want to be able to pick up a man in the firearm carry and haul him around like a little baby lamb.

Me, externally: endurance training seems generally beneficial.

Fun story time.

I am only 5'1 but I used to work out and lift weights in competition. I dressed in baggy clothing so no one would ever see/notice unless they saw me in the gym.

I met my husband by listening to him and his buddies boasting that they were super strong. Now my husband is 6'2 and had a good 150 lbs on me.

So I made a bet, if I could carry him out of the building he would have to buy me lunch. Being the 20 year old he was, he agreed. I lifted his ass over my shoulder and fireman carried him out of the building and to the court yard before demanding my free food.

Lesson to be learned? Work out and be strong to get free food from unsuspecting victims.

(We ended up dating and marrying. We are very happy)

Small Device Currently on Mars Is Generating as Much Oxygen as a Tree, Scientists Reveal

Luckily for these pioneering astronauts though, it looks like one of the heaviest—and most important—resources will be provided on site: oxygen. In fact, a lunchbox-sized device currently on the surface of Mars is already reliably generating as much oxygen as a tree, scientists revealed on Wednesday.

Oxygen will be important not only to provide astronauts breathable air when they’re off-planet but also to help fuel rockets to eventually take them back to Earth. In a new paper published on Wednesday in the journal Science Advances, researchers from MIT explain how a small experiment roaming Mars on the back of NASA’s Perseverance rover is proof that it’s possible to create oxygen from the Martian atmosphere.

This experiment is also the first to successfully harvest and use resources on any planetary body, a process that will be important not only for Martian exploration but future lunar habitats as well.

I don’t think people realize just how absolutely insane and exciting this is.

They believe that a device the size of a freezer could supply enough oxygen to 180 people! The current device, the size of a lunchbox, can already supply a fifth of the oxygen you need! This doesn’t just help us on Mars, this helps us tremendously on earth!

You want to know one way to radically reduce carbon emissions? This. This tiny machine right here.

This is a method in which we could potentially use a similar system to filter carbon dioxide from major pollution plants or areas, and inject oxygen.

The difference being that his doesn’t just filter out carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, this converts it into oxygen.

Space research benefits all of us far more than you would think.
